The most beautiful beaches

A real paradise on earth, the coast of Chia is full of beautiful beaches, secluded or chaotic to choose according to your needs. Some are suitable for families, others aimed at fun or more reserved and romantic.

Beach of Su Cardolinu

From this beach you can enjoy a fabulous view of those of the Porticciolo and Colonia. The scent of juniper and warm sand is persistent and crossing low white dunes you soon reach the islet of Su Cardolinu (the islet of the mushroom). It is a rather suggestive and characteristic place capable of awakening the Indiana Jones in us. In fact, a quick visit allows the discovery of the few remains of the ancient Tophet which belonged to the city then called Bithia.

The island is connected to the beach by a fine sandy cordon and still today it maintains its wild aspect that invites you to discover. The lack of services is well compensated by the depths to be explored, as long as you have a mask and snorkel with you.

Porto Campana beach

It is about 2 kilometers from the beautiful Chia and what makes this beach characteristic is the rocky promontory that separates it from the Colonia beach.

The sand here is golden, grainy and the water takes on green and emerald reflections. It is literally embraced by two green and Mediterranean-scented promoters and behind it is covered by beautiful sand dunes. The junipers are also the protagonists of the scenario here, the lentisk, cistus and white cornflowers with an enthralling scent.

Beach of Su Giudeu

Some know it as the beach of Su Stangioni de su Sali, others like Su Giudeu beach. The name matters little, given the beauty of this corner of the coast which has often been defined as one of the most beautiful in the whole Mediterranean. The beach is long, very clear, kissed by a clean and crystalline sea. The dunes that protect this earthly paradise reach 20 meters and give hospitality to beautiful secular junipers, shaped by the wind. The islet of su Giudeu dominates the beach, about 150 meters from the shore. It is a dark rock, partly inhabited by resistant Mediterranean maquis. At certain times of the year it can also be reached on foot, along a strip of sand that connects it to the land coast. For this reason, during the winter and spring it is not unusual to see it occupied by grazing goats. When the tide is high instead to reach the islet you can reach it effortlessly by swimming.

Just behind the beach is Su Stangioni de su Sali, a small pond which gives the second name to this exceptional beach.

Marina beach

The profile of this little beach is also and above all drawn by the Spanish tower which cuts the small port in two. Among the elements that make the beach unmistakable are its seabed, not only beautiful but immediately profound. The beach, which takes the shape of a crescent, at its ends it is protected by hard granite cliffs to be explored with a mask and snorkel. I am the Mediterranean maquis, the transparencies and colors that make it so loved. Ideal for rock lovers, here there is no very fine sand but only pebbles and coarse-grained sand.

Cologne beach

This beach is a pleasant encounter between nature and archeology. If you choose to spend a day there with family or friends, you will have the opportunity to admire a long and white sandy coast that runs for no more than a kilometer. Here and there it is possible to admire large blocks of sandstone squared with geometric precision. They are the remains of the ancient Punic city of Bithia still to be discovered today.

In spring the beach turns pink: it is not the merit of the sand but of the mesembriantemium, a beautiful flower characteristic of the area. Not far away is the pond of Chia: rushes, reeds and pink flamingos will welcome you.

Cala Cipolla beach

Perhaps it is one of the most beautiful and evocative beaches of the entire Chia coast. The promontories that border the coast are made of strong granite. The stone creates long cliffs that sink towards the sea so much so that the beach looks like a large natural pool. Here too the sand is fine and very white, the dunes protect it behind and give hospitality to a thick Mediterranean maquis, with prickly pines and junipers.

Beach of the dead

This is a true Mediterranean paradise. The beach is really small, an inlet set in a small hill that is inserted into a low granite wall. The scent of juniper, of mastic, of cistus, they are persistent, just like their unmistakable colors, which in spring overwhelm the visitor.

This privileged position makes it quite popular especially when the strong mistral blows and cannot reach the bay.

The sand is certainly not fine, but the water continues to have green reflections like mint and the rocks, processed by water, from the wind and millennia they show chromatic nuances of exceptional beauty. Visiting is believing.
